T3 employees take pride in their work and know well that every plan set contributes to the greater good of the Commonwealth. Being involved in either planning and designing of new roads, or making sure roads are clean and in good condition is part of what makes us who we are: a people-oriented small business that is passionate about quality, integrity and the work we do.

As T3 encourages employees to give back to the community, the idea of volunteering to keep roads clean fell right in place. After obtaining a three-year permit, a group of seven employees set up a date and time to perform the first cleaning session on Sideburn Road (Route 653) in Fairfax County, from Zion Road to Braddock Road (totaling 1.1 miles).

The team followed the procedure outlined in the permit, including informing VDOT about the date and time, picking up the road signs and bags to perform the work.

During VDOT’s Safety Week, the T3 team embarked on the cleaning expedition. The roadside signs were installed to inform the drivers of the ongoing operation and personal safety equipment was worn by all participants.

At the drive through inspection the road looked clean and nicely maintained, but the team still collected seven bags of trash and disposed them as directed by the permit instructions.

After the cleanup was complete, the team filled out the report card submitted it to VDOT. All remaining bags and the roadside signs were also returned.

The team designated a site inspector to drive through the adopted road segment to make sure it was clean and to schedule the next cleaning as soon as it is needed. The inspector now knows that just driving through will not be enough, so there will be a walking inspection to make sure our job is thoroughly done and we are honoring the program fully.
