Conglong (Vicky) Yu, P.E., Completes TPMI in Class of 35 Industry Professionals

May 30, 2017 Guest User

On May 25, 2017, T3 Design Senior Project Manager, Conglong (Vicky) Yu, P.E., graduated from the Transportation Project Management Institute (TPMI), held at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. The program is provided through the Center of Transportation Studies, which is a joint partnership between the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Virginia Transportation Research Council, the research branch of the Virginia Department of Transportation.

TPMI is held annually each May and is an eight-day intensive training program designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of project managers of the development phase of transportation projects. It is designed for project managers from VDOT as well as localities and the industry, with a mix of participants selected through an application process. This year’s class included 35 attendees within our industry.

The program has the following objectives:

  • Provide hands-on experience in relevant transportation project management issues/challenges through a series of case study exercises.

  • Solidify fundamental project management knowledge and skills through lectures/discussions with experienced faculty from academia, government, and industry, as well as group interaction with other project management professionals.

  • Build communities of project managers with extensive team-based work on case study exercises and numerous opportunities for small group discussions and interaction.

The program involves cooperative learning in a small group collaborative environment focused on a specific case study. Vicky worked with a breakout team of six participants, culminating with a final presentation and discussion session about the selected project scenario.

Vicky now joins an exclusive group of program graduates in the industry and is looking forward to applying her greater understanding of VDOT processes and procedures to future projects throughout the Commonwealth.
